NAAAP Toronto successfully launched its ERG Leadership Council on Thursday, June 2, 2016 with an inaugural Round Table Session generously hosted by Torys LLP who is also a sponsor along; Pepsico Canada, Samsung, Estee Lauder and TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council). Additional participants also included senior diversity and inclusion representatives from; Nielsen, RBC and Telus.

Leadership facilitator & NAAAP Toronto VP, Tania DeSa led the group in an interactive exercise of “Deep Democracy”, exploring stakeholder viewpoints on the issue of Diversity in Recruiting. Some other highly engaging topics discussed included; gender neutrality in the workplace, avoiding reverse bias, understanding KPIs for ERGs and learning from the chaos that creates change.
With NAAAP, Employee Resource Groups are enabled with innovation, opportunity and smart practices towards high impact diversity and inclusion programs.

“I’m motivated to research common biases and excited to share these learnings with my team and the diversity council at my organization” said one company representative.

” I’ll look at poking holes in existing policies” remarked an ERG leader.

” I want to leverage NAAAP as a resource” said one diversity leader when asked what she would take away from the event.

Upcoming session topics will include; exploring different life stages of an ERG where ideas will be shared on how to start and sustain ERGs in your company.  Tania DeSa, VP Business Development at NAAAP Toronto, leads the charge to advance diversity practices and knowledge sharing.
