Lai-King Hum | The Hum Law Firm

After over 10 years of practice on “Bay Street”, Lai-King Hum foundedHum Law Firm, located in downtown Toronto. Her objective: to provide legal expertise for all aspects of workplace related law at highly competitive rates.

Lai’s practice in workplace law spans most provinces in Canada, including civil law Quebec. She is client-focused and results driven. Lai is called to the bars of Ontario and Quebec, and works in both English and French. She is a native Toisan speaker, and also speaks some Mandarin. Hum Law Firm is located in downtown Toronto. Consultations by appointment are available in Markham and Scarborough, as well as London, Ontario. Lai is also President of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.

Sarah Hendriks | Global Gender Equality Advisor
Plan International

Ms. Hendriks is the Global Gender Equality Advisor for Plan International. In this role she leads the process of organizational change on gender equality, including the development of the organization’s first comprehensive gender equality policy (2011) and the design of a global capacity development program on gender equality and children’s rights. Sarah is also the lead gender advisor and researcher for Plan’s global report on girls’ rights (Because I am a Girl: the State of the World’s Girls) and head of programming for Plan’s Because I am a Girl global campaign.

Before joining Plan International, Ms. Hendriks worked with Women and the Law in Southern Africa Research and Education Trust (WLSA) in Malawi, an organization distinguished throughout Southern Africa for connecting women’s rights, gender equality and the law in action-based research, human rights training, and advocacy for legal and policy reform. For more than 10 years, Ms. Hendriks has worked extensively as a gender equality consultant in areas such as Gender-Based Violence (CIDA), Women’s Access to Justice (GTZ), HIV and AIDS (NGOs), and the design of gender equality strategies (Institute of Public Administration of Canada).

Ms. Hendriks is often invited as a trainer and speaker on gender equality and human rights for workshops, universities and with global media.

As a leadership coach, Tania draws from intercultural experiences of traveling to over 70 countries and living, studying and working in Australia, Japan, Hungary, Spain, China and Switzerland. She holds an International MBA from ESADE Business School in Spain and Peking University in China.

Tania has thrived in corporate sales and marketing management roles within the global healthcare industry in such companies as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Medtronic, Ecolab, Johnson & Johnson and has led strategic discussions at the World Health Organization in Switzerland.

She is also on the Board of Directors for the North American Association of Asian Professionals ( NAAAP Toronto) and the Co-Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Task Force of the WGTA Summit.

Tania leverages her 8+ years of global corporate experience to empower professionals in developing strong value propositions and creating buy-in at any level in order to be seen and heard in the workplace. She is excited to launch an e-course on how to rock your performance review next month and embark on a speaking tour in India early next year. She is a travel junkie, eternal smiler and salsa dancing enthusiast.
