For the past three years, the Top Ten Event has been an experience like no other downtown Toronto. Ten celebrated Canadians take the stage for ten minutes each sharing ten things you should know before you die. Garnering over 20 million media impressions to sold out audiences, we`re excited to have you on the edge of your seat at the Top Ten Event-Greenpeace Edition.
On September 19th, 2013, 28 activists and 2 freelance journalists – including Canadians Paul Ruzycki and Alexandre Paul – were illegally detained by Russian forces on board the Arctic Sunrise. And after months languishing in a Russian prison, for a crime that they did not commit, the Arctic 30 were finally granted amnesty on December 18th, 2013. In the midst of this story, what has stood out most is the indomitable courage of 30 women and men. They started a conversation all over the world on why oil exploration in the pristine Arctic is simply not worth the risk. And now that they are finally home safe with their loved ones, they continue to keep the conversation going. What`s needed is a global sanctuary around the North Pole and a ban to offshore drilling by a destructive industry in the Arctic.
